I have been in Germany for about 5.5 months now. I figured that I should probably write a blog entry.. ha ha. So, TONS of things have happened- I have seen so many things, done so many cool things, met so many amazing people. It's hard to make a blog about living abroad... reading a story about an event is obviously not the same as experiencing it. I could say that Fasching is amazing.. but if you've never been to a Fasching event it's hard to describe. Costumes. Drinking. Witches. Confetti. yup.
I am actually going to a Fasching Ball tonight. It should be awesome. I am going to wear a purple sparkly dress with a bright purple wig. Should be fun. I've also dressed up as a red and white mushroom for a Fasching party. It was awesome.
So. Germany. It's going well. I am getting good at German. It's hard to tell when you are ''fluent.'' People ask me if I'm fluent and I never know what to say. ''ummm..... what do you consider fluent?'' I can talk about most things I want to and I understand most things in school. I answered the phone today and a lady on the other line talked REALLY fast and in Swabish (the local dialect here) and I understood! Last week I described to a shopping clerk at Müller that I needed the little rubber inserts that go in eyelash crimpers... and she understood me! ha ha. It took some hand guesters... and lots of adjectives, but it worked. Yeah, that's another thing I realised: how many hand guesters are needed in a language. It's intersting how much can be understood with a few words and lots of motions. That was me for the first several months in Germany. ''ummm.... the thing.... like this..... big... made of wood..... you can open it... with thingeys... yeah! A dresser!'' yeah.... good times.
So. I am going to go now. It's 16:23. I've been home for a few hours because one of my classes '' ist aus gefällen'' there are no substitute teachers here, so when a teacher is sick you don't have class. Kinda nice. I get to come home early or go to school later. It's alot more like college here. It's nice.
Sorry that I haven't posted in a REALLY long time... but I have a feeling that not many people read this blog... People always have thoughts ''I could make an awesome blog!!'' and then... bam... you have 10 followers... and *sigh* oh well. dream terminated. (and sorry if there are mistakes in this, the spell check is on German and I don't know how to change it...)
