So, I now have a HOST FAMILY!!! yay! I'm going to Dietenheim! It's in the South near Ulm and Ausburg. It's pretty close to the Italian and Swiss boarders. I have a family of 4! Two parents and both a brother and sister. The brother is my age, 16, and the sister is 13.
Where I live in Ohio, the population is close to 40,000. The population of Dietenheim is about 6,500. So, it'll be alot different! I just hope I can stay there, apparently there are some problems and they may just be my welcoming family. *sigh* But we'll see what happens.
until next time...
This blog is about my experiences in Germany while I'm there on a year of foreign exchange through AFS. Follow me as I explore Germany, learn their culture, assimilate, go to a German school, live with a host family, and form relationships.

Countdown: 30 DAYS!!!
So, I still don't have a host family, but I am hopeful! I will probably get a welcoming family then when I'm actually in Germany I will be assigned a family. So, I am pretty nervous for my 2 day orientation in Washington, DC. That's when I have to say goodbye to my family. I'm sure it will be fine but you know, it's kinda nerve wracking. "See you in a year!" not exactly what you want to say to your family, or friends for that matter. But I'm ready. I've been sort of mentally preparing myself. Getting everything ready, planning as much as I can, making lists of things to bring. It's just hard not knowing where you will be living for the next year. I don't know if I need to bring snow boots! ahhhhh!!! But I want to take a chance, live my life, do something different! It's time to challenge myself, and this is the perfect way.

Countdown: 32 days until I board a plane...
Hello everyone! My name is Diana and this is my first blog post, on my first blog ever! As you know, I am going to Germany for a year of foreign exchange through AFS. I received a partial scholarship for my program and in accepting the scholarship I am required to make a blog of my year abroad. Sadly, there isn't much to talk about now because I haven't left yet. I am leaving in September. I have yet to receive a host family so I have no idea where I will be living for the next year! But I am super hopeful that I will get an amazing host family!
So please, join me as I spend a year abroad! And please, feel free to comment and ask questions!
